On July 3rd, Thailand announced a new international train service connecting Bangkok and Vientiane, set to commence operations on July 19, 2024.
Travelers can use public transport to reach Vientiane’s city center, located 7-9 kilometers away.
They can also access the Laos-China high-speed railway at Vientiane Railway Station to travel to other provinces in Laos or to China.
The expected starting fare for third-class fan seats from Bangkok to Vientiane is around 300 THB (9 USD), and the travel time is approximately 10 hours.
